Friday is National Kissing Day

Two  days thumbs up for forthcoming National Kissing Day.

Ladies…get the lip gloss out. Men…get those lips puckered.

Done my research for ‘The Little Book of Kisses’ with my fab agent.(the book not the research!)

But plan to practice more Friday!! XXXXX

Replace fear with hope

Nothing better on a Sunday morning than settling down with the newspapers, a cup of earl grey tea and watching the Andrew Marr Show.

Yesterday one of his guests a Rabbi made an excellent comment; how that in life ‘if we get rid of the politics of fear -you start to see the politics of hope’.

This positive mantra can of course be applied to any areas of our own life and it doesn’t just apply to world conflict or huge events which may seem beyond our control.

Musical memories

Isn’t it great when you hear an old song and you are transported back in time, to a place, an event…maybe an old flame.

Sky Arts one tonight Simply Red one or two bolts of lightening there…Mother was right memories live longer than dreams.

Here’s to old loves, that could kiss!

Watch out for my forthcoming book ‘A little book of kisses’

Anti-bullying…kindness

Well done to the anti-bullying campaign to make today a day of kindness. If children really need reminding then let’s do just that.

Speaking to colleagues over the past day or two we all agreed that the best we can do as parents/teachers is to encourage children to take responsibility for their actions -sounds simple enough and I know my generation were definitely told this is the only way.

As for kindness… one of my best tips for people of ages remembering to be kind in any relationship tends to result in one that is more successful and easier to maintain in the longer term.

My nag and a continual one kindness is a strength use it well.

Theatre… at its best

Yesterday I attended a wonderful collection of small plays presented by a group of young adults with learning difficulties at  Shenley Park Hertfordshire.

I have to say the enthusiasm, love and warmth the actors brought to some of the all time greats was magical. The ad-libing second to none.

Huge congratulations to all those that took part and well done to the teachers from Oaklands College for their hard work and patience.

My laddie, my joy, Jamie was a truly magnificent King and a very amusing Jack in Jack and the Beanstalk.

Surely theatre… at its best!

The ‘I can do’ mantra

We were really lucky as children as our amazing mother always encouraged us to tackle everything in life positively.

We were inspired to achieve our dreams and that hard work didn’t kill anybody!

Talking with my life coach friend and student tutor we both agreed the simple rule of not telling oneself that we couldn’t do something is still the best advice. The negative messages we send to our subconscious self are listened to and failing starts to become a reality.

I am therefore telling myself and my subconscious that I am going to win the euro lottery tonight and help others but it has to be more than £6.40 -my winnings last Friday!

Start of the exams

Today is the first Biology exam for some students taking the A level science exams, including my own daughter. Two simple tips that help;-

Keep hydrated by drinking as much water as you can leading up to exams.

During your exam keep grounded by placing both feet firmly on the ground it helps with concentration…yeah really it does!

You know this stuff…especially if you have been doing your studying and past exam papers.

I wish you all good luck and remember stay calm.

NLP – curiosity

Working with Shelford Chandler of Giant Steps Create earlier this year was time very well spent.  He encouraged me to include curiosity in everyday life and it has definitely paid off in more ways than one.

Starting lesson two of my NLP course today it referred to the benefits of being curious echoing Shelford’s own creative ways of thinking.

As I have often advised the answer can be found in what appears to be negative responses from our clients…but the devil is always in the detail.

My interview, featuring Shelford’s top tips on curiosity can be found by visiting:-

Blood doning

Aside of my recent pleas to encourage others to help with hospital research yet again the blood banks need our help as reported on lunchtime TV news -they need O and A groups.

As I have said it is a myth that hospitals don’t need the common blood groups -irony being they often run low in stock of  O group.

It only takes a few minutes, I confess I only started donating after my lovely mother had to have a blood transfusion then it became personal.

Being creative

Hello to fellow creative types and beautiful people some of whom are family! Nothing better than getting together with people that understand the urge to create and acknowledge one’s passion rather than dismiss it as ‘being a hippy’.

I am certain I am not alone in experiencing the blank looks when talking enthusiastically about a great new idea or a project that is dear to one’s heart.

My rant for today has to be why is it that far too often being creative is viewed by some as being dumb – indeed many of the brilliantly intelligent people I encounter are creative too!

The downside of course is at times, we have to be ‘a tart to our art!’

Joys of being a poor tortured writer. Keep at it.
