Faith restored -client engagement

Following yesterday’s blog today I definitely had my faith restored in customer/client engagement.

If, I had been carrying our investigative research in a particular area this week I have certainly seen the best and worst examples.

This morning’s experience was far superior with staff being immediately on the ball, courteous, positive and even took a quality consultant by surprise. Congrats to said company who I will not name yet but  having really explored their website they certainly live up to their aims and objectives.

I am suitably impressed…watch this space.

First impressions

Rightly or wrongly we all tend to make a decision about a person and/or a company based on our initial experience. A first impression can be the difference between starting a long term relationship or doing business with an organisation…or not.

I was very surprised to receive a two line email response from an organisation that was full of typo’s, words missing from the reply so it hardly made sense and my requests had been more or less ignored. I wonder how the management would feel if they knew their staff were putting off new prospects this way?

The question one asks is whether we should tell the said organisation how poorly their staff view their own role and their services -or simply go elsewhere?

First impressions are important but surely in our everyday life and work we should aim to give our best to those we encounter and at least have a bit of self-pride in what we do.

SAY NO TO CO

Pleased to see the Loose Women promoting the ‘say no to co’ campaign and raising awareness of installing CO alarm detectors in our homes.

A Gas Safety spokesperson also recommends taking a unit on holiday, we have all heard the tragic case of the two children that died on holiday and after a nine year long battle their parents are finally getting those responsible to accept responsibility.

Great shame the holiday tour operator took so long and only sat up after extensive  media pressure.

Study Buddy

Another fabulous lunch session with my study buddy.

So important to meet with like-minded people who are committed to adult learning and enthusiastic about what they do and take an active interest in your development too.

Said it before but it can be ‘lonely on the studying shelf’ and being inspired by others and encouraged by one’s tutors helps the journey run smoother.

Also you can save a fortune on books required for reflective reading and furthering your self-development.

Lesson three completed on NLP and working on number four!!

Mondays can be positive and productive. Sage accounts next!

New day…

Isn’t it funny how something that has been an emotional stumbling block that also hampers other opportunities can suddenly stop being insurmountable. A switch turns on and the light shines through.

It happens to even the most positive and confident people in all other areas of their life they will have something that they need to challenge, yet don’t. Then set about accepting and achieving all sorts of other huge challenges that amaze those around them.

As a positive person who is excellent in his own profession reminded me today sometimes it’s just a new day and the time is right. Thanks Nigel!

My own studying of NLP and CBT has encouraged me to examine my own life and things that have been put on hold, put off for far too long!

Here goes my own latest plan to accept another challenge and that driving force behind us all.

End of exams…awaiting results

A week on the students are now recovering from exams and their prom nights and possibly packing for that well deserved holiday with friends.

Leaving the worrying of their results to their parents and tutors, though we must all remember that whatever the results they have done their best.

I am reminded by those in the know that if they do not get into the university of their choice that’s ok  as  there is a good reason for that too. Fingers crossed and good luck fellow students.

Testimonials

I am always encouraging my clients to ask their clients to give feedback on training, services and products when ever possible. This business intelligence is useful in so many ways to not only help us to improve our game but to provide material for websites and promotional literature.

I never hesitate to provide professionals with testimonials as a way of saying thank you and it really is rewarding when a client takes time to provide me with feedback or a testimonial too. You know who you are!!

The eyes have it…

I have had many a discussion with those that think know best about eye contact – when the reality is that one doesn’t have to be looking somebody in the eye full time to be listening, engaged or being honest.

Eye accessing cues are very interesting and revealing and featured part of a recent assignment within my NLP course. On John Bishop’s show this week a very funny comedian (Jim Owen) did a brilliant routine around the eye movements albeit exaggerated it was actually very accurate.

Having been previously accused of ‘looking to the sky for divine intervention’ I am actually accessing those v.i.p files locked away.

National Kissing Day -End of Exams

It has arrived! Get kissing, your kids, your parents, your partners, your cat…

Positive meeting with my agent yesterday we aim to get ‘The little book of kisses’ out well before Valentine Day 2016!! He deserves a kiss!

Today brings the end of exams for so many students, their parents and teachers. We all deserve a kiss…and a celebratory drink whatever the results.

Huge kiss to my own daughter for working so hard…time to party now!

Thank god it’s Friday and get kissing.

NLP

Loving my NLP course and knew all my reflective reading for courses taken last year would continue to be worthwhile.

Thoroughly recommend Stephen Grosz’s book ‘The Examined Life’ to anybody studying counselling or looking to improve their own self development.

Here is one particularly quote I liked when he was describing how we are when feeling negative or depressed.

‘Being in the grip of negativity, we lose our appetite for human connection.’

A fact we must all bear in mind when friends and family are at a low ebb and it is often down to us to make more of an effort to include and encourage.
